Riding Lessons

Bar Pasture Stables offers individual or small group lessons. There is no more than five riders to a group to ensure you get the most out of your lesson as it’s important to us that you develop your skills and learn something new each time. Our ponies are confidence giving and friendly; we take time to match you to the right pony to ensure you get the most out of your time at the stables.

We take pupils from the age of six upward, whether you are just starting out or want to develop your skills; we have a class and pony, which is right for you. Children’s riding lessons mainly run at the weekends and after school and throughout the school holidays. Adult lessons can be tailored around your working days.

First we ask you to take a half hour lesson in the arena to find out your level of riding and make sure we find a horse or pony to suit you. Riding lessons are tailored to you, and can include flat work and jumping in our all-weather arena or hacking around the countryside.

All lessons are taken by Laura who is an experienced and qualified teacher; click here to find out more about Laura.

The price of the lessons varies depending upon your level, the length of the lesson and whether it is one-to-one or in groups. We recommend you have an initial half hour assessment lesson which starts from £15. Afterwards an hour long group lessons start from £20, or private lessons from £25. Please get in touch with Laura (07756 915 633) for more information on prices.

Please note that the hour-long lessons include time to mount and hat, stirrup and girth checks. There is also a £10 cancellation fee when you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, as these ponies could be used for someone else.

Pony Days & Courses

Pony days will run during the school holidays from 10:30am till 3pm and include riding lessons, stable management lectures and games in the afternoon. The day offers a chance for the riders to care for a pony as if it was theirs. Courses run only in the summer school holidays and are two to three days. To read more click here.
